Technology is a big part of our lives, with social media and gaming use skyrocketing over the past two years. As youth navigate the digital world, it’s essential for caregivers to understand the impact of technology in their own lives and partner with young people to build skills for digital well-being and safety. Join us for an interactive webinar exploring how young people use technology in friendships and relationships, ways caregivers can model healthy digital boundaries, and the developmental aspects of online safety.

Youth Voice Group

About the group: The Youth Voices participants range in age from 13-26 years old, are diverse in culture (BIPOC, LGBTQ+/Two-Spirit) and their fostering experience (relative, non-relative, adopted, aged-out and parenting youth). This group has identified their goal as making changes so the foster care system becomes a safer, healthier, and a more loving experience for youth and families. Our goal is to equip Fosters or youth currently in the foster care system with the support, leadership skills and the access to the right practice and policy platforms to make their identified changes a reality.

The UMD Center for Regional and Tribal Child Welfare Studies is pleased to announce the 2020 Annual ICWA Conference featuring keynote speaker Dr. Jerry Milner. Dr. Milner currently serves as the Acting Commissioner of the Administration for Children and Families and oversees the Family and Youth Services Bureau in addition to the Children's Bureau. Conference presentations will offer examples of ICWA collaboration and how collaboration strengthens American Indian children and families, and the agencies that serve them.
